Sustainable Sculpture, Trinity Green Week, 2024. A creative ecological research project in response to the Physics Garden site in the grounds of Trinity College Dublin. I surveyed the grounds to locate a site I would like to work with and selected an oval lawn surrounded by benches in front of the Physics and Zoology buildings in a quiet location near the back of the campus. I was interested in creating a contemplative piece, working with the existing lawn as the “sculpture” to be engaged with. I proposed an exploration to be played on participants’ smartphones, to include a meditative musical experience and research and information delivery about grasses. My creative research project was selected for inclusion in Trinity College Green Week. The digital experience launched on March 11th, 2024. I created signs with QR codes to trigger the project and attached one to each of the 12 benches surrounding the lawn. 136 people engaged with the piece during Green Week, spending a significant amount of time with it (tracked via digital analytics). I collaborated with musicians, artists, ecologists, landscape managers in developing this creative project.
